How could I explain the meaning and usage of “apparently?”?
By
I am trying to explain the meaning and usage of “apparently” to an ESL student. Anyone have a good explanation or something that I could print out to help this student out? Thank you for your time^^

apparent = appears, as in “it looks like”. So, you can substitute “it looks like” for apparently in almost any case.
Apparently, Fred does not like carrots.
It looks like Fred does not like carrots.
The latter isn’t an example of wonderful grammar, but that’s a good way to break the word down into a simpler meaning.
